My first turkey is done! No idea how it tastes...but I think it looks like a turkey should look?

turkeyCollapse )

Also my second coat order came in the mail from Old Navy. Here are pictures for the 4t/5t for Colton and the 3t/4t for Daphne. The 5t for Colton is a no brainer, not sure and which size to keep for Daphne though.

Edit: I think I'm gonna keep the 4t for Daphne...it looks roomy, but not massive. Right now when I cuff the sleeves on her it shows the same amount of shearling as the upper pocket trim.

This has been a good shopping day! I was browsing Zulily to see if they had any shoes that I liked for the kids and stumbled upon some dress-up clothes. They had matching boy/girl pirate outfits for super cheap, one for $9 and the other for $11. I've been looking at Halloween costumes a little bit online and they all range $30+. Why are dress-up clothes so much cheaper than costumes? Is it because costumes are marketed towards Halloween? I showed Jay the outfits and he said to buy them. They only had 2t left for both outfits, so Daphne's might be little big and hopefully Colton's fits fine. Colton still wears a 2t for pants, I buy him 3t for shirts but that's because I want them to last throughout the winter/spring. I had to pay shipping for the costumes, but still $27 for two Halloween costumes is amazing!

I was super ambitious yesterday and decided to try my hand at some shadowboxing. I don't tend to hold on to everything, but I do keep a few little special things here and there....I have the kids coming home outfits from the hospital, hats and blankets people made from them, Daphne's 1st birthday dress, a favorite outfit of Colton's...I just save a few things for memory's sake. Well yesterday I made two boxes for the kids that had their coming home outfits in them, all 3 hospital bracelets, and a picture of them wearing the outfit in the hospital. I had pulled out other things that I wanted to put in the shadowboxes, but they just didn't fit and I wasn't willing to buy a bigger box frame.

All I bought for this project was the frames and printed out the pictures. I actually had these background papers in my scrapbooking stuff and I think they go nicely with the outfits and that both boxes compliment each other too. I'm going to hang them up in the kids' bedroom soon. I'm considering maybe adding the kids' names to the front of the frame on the bottom? Their names aren't anywhere in the boxes...everything just says Lotfy Baby A or Lotfy Baby B.

3 picturesCollapse )

I also ended up making a shadowbox of my Color Run stuff during naptime too! The Color Run was just amazing. Not only do I feel really accomplished (go ahead and laugh at that), but it was seriously the most fun I've had in a long time...I felt free. I wish I could get that weekend back because man I needed it. I never slept in, in fact I came home even more sleep-deprived, but it was just so refreshing. After the Color Run was over there was a huge festival...I've never really been to a concert before and it was just a blast. My friends and I were all wearing matching tutus and the event co-ordinators invited anyone wearing a tutu to go past security and really be a part of the show. So we got to go behind all of the fences and guardrails and everyone watched US dance and sing and be idiots. Apparently only 15 or 20 people wore tutus and the Color Run people felt we embodied the true Color Run spirit.

So anyways, I made a box of Color Run stuff. I saved my race bib, my security armband, the sweat band that came in your grab bags (we also were given bandanas, temporary tattoos, and a Color Run t-shift), 3 of my most favorite pictures from the day, and part of the tutu that I made for all of us to wear. I'm really happy with how this turned out and it's going to be hung up in the guest room.

2 picturesCollapse )

I have one more empty frame sitting around now. I bought the big black frame at Michael's and they were having a sale of "Buy one frame, get another exact same frame for FREE". I had no need for two frames that were the same, but I took one anyways since it was totally free. I could've spent $31 for 1 frame or $31 for 2 frames :P

I went away for the weekend! I received a lapdance from a transvestite! I ran a 5k! I got covered in paint! My children were kept alive by Jay for the weekend! The house didn't fair too well in my absence, but that's ok I guess.

I think I want to make a shadowbox using my tutu, bib number, wrist band, some of the pictures, and my color run sweat band.

I find it hard to believe that a lot of winter stuff is already out in the stores. I bought Daphne this really cute fleece outfit on Zulily the other day and then stumbled upon one for Colton yesterday at Kohls. I almost have everything needed for their winter wardrobe besides a new hat for Colton and some boots for both kids? I have girl winter boots, but they're size 8s and I'm not sure if Daphne will fit into them by them.

Christmas shopping for Colton and Daphne so far:

Stockings:
* Playskool Sesame Street Figures - I'll open these up so each kid will have 3 characters in their stocking

* Thomas the Train and CARS body wash and shampoo. Body wash was buy 2 get 1 free, so I got another non-character wash to use now with the kids.

Gifts:
* Playdoh Mini Picnic Bucket and Playdoh Mini Fun with Numbers Bucket

* Camelbak Waterbottles in Rainbows and Forest Animals

* Thomas and Elmo sound books with matching stuffed figures

I just did some online clothes shopping for the kids. We don't have a ton of money right now, but I trying to pick up some early Christmas presents and some spring/summer clothes for next year. Colton can probably wear the stuff I bought right now, he looks fine in a baggy shirt. None of the dresses I bought Daphne will fit for awhile though. I hope I made the right decision buying Daphne 2t and Colton 3t.

We have been living off of beans, beans, and more beans. I've used over 20 cans of beans in my cooking over the past 3 weeks. Hopefully we get paid soon (3 weeks of no paychecks) and then I can do a massive food shopping trip. I'm going to do a big day of freezer cooking since I'm kind of cooked out right now too.
